Video work exploring the quiet and incidental details of Bristol City Museum’s Eastern Art Gallery and Schiller collection of Chinese ceramics. The work examines overlooked parts of the gallery enabling a focus on the sense of the space. By doing so Flower invites enquiry upon multiple layers of meaning in the gallery as well as ideas inherent in the relationship between museum and collection. Spoken text within the work draws a parallel to Edgar Allen Poe’s tale The Purloined Letter.
The video was made with support from funding by the Arts Council and Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery and was displayed at the Museum from 2016-2017.
